ABOUT

James Hutchinson is a Welsh-Australian composer whose work spans instrumental and electroacoustic music, bringing together acoustic instruments, electronic sound, and mixed media to create immersive and emotionally resonant musical experiences. Deeply inspired by the natural world, his music explores themes of place, movement, ecology, and the relationship between people and their environments.

Drawing on field recordings and layered electroacoustic textures, James creates works that are atmospheric, reflective, and strongly connected to storytelling. His compositions often emerge from observing how sound shapes our experience of landscape and belonging, capturing fragments of the world around us and transforming them into rich sonic environments that invite contemplation and emotional connection.

James’ work has been presented in the UK, Australia, Spain, and Portugal, reaching new audiences through evocative and place-responsive listening experiences.
